Before kick-off the Scot Moyes had said: "We will be doing everything we possibly can tonight to avenge the disappointing result we had at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season.
"At this present time, we sit behind City in the Premier League table, but that is something we will look to rectify in the future. The title race is something we're aiming to be involved in he future, just as we have in the past." This feels a long way away at the moment.
Robin van Persie's absence allowed Juan Mata to play in his favoured No10 role at Upton Park, with Wayne Rooney pushed forward as the main striker. Rooney grabbed the headlines with his superb 45-yard volley, but Moyes was full of praise for his entire attack, and especially Mata and Shinji Kagawa.
But according to the Guardian, that work is already well under way, with two leading players said to have accepted moves to Old Trafford.
The pair, who are both unknown, are thought to be overseas stars who have been tracked by United scouts for months.
